Learning Objectives
The course has the following educational objectives:
-development of a "complex thought” concerning the social phenomena which are the subject of social service activity, a basic requirement to take the professional perspective;
- being able to analyze the life histories of individuals in order to identify the social disadvantage, that is often the basis of the processes of marginality in which service users are involved, and the experiences of coping unsettling events;
- recognition of empathic behaviors as a substantial element of the help relationship and techniques to support narration
-including(comprehention of) the relevance of ethical and deontological issues in professional practices with particular reference to ethical dilemmas
-knowledge of the characteristics of the different phases of the history of social service in Italy
-development of analysis skills of the initial phases of the aid process

Teaching Methods
Frontal teaching lessons: Total 60 hours
Laboratory activities: Total 8 hours
Seminars / guided visits: Total 4 hours

Type of Assessment
First written test: analysis of a life history and of social and identity processes through the construction of the biogram;
Second written test: questions with synthetic answers on the topics studied during the first and third module.
The written tests will be valid for the current academic year
The oral exam can be taken only by those who have passed the written tests
