Learning Objectives
The course pursues the following educational objectives:
- ability to acquire the 'sense' of the profession of social worker and of its position in the current welfare system
-understanding of the relevance of ethical and deontological issues in professional practices
- knowledge of the main reference models of the social service
- ability to understand the most important elements of the methodological question in the profession of social worker
- ability to recognize the complexity of a profession and the appropriate methodologies in the various fields.
- ability to analyze the life stories of individual individuals so as to identify the social disadvantage often at the base of marginalization processes and coping strategies;
-development of skills to analyze the initial phases of the help process

The evolution and position of a profession through legislation
The meaning, the structure, the organization, the contents of the New Code and the connections with the work of the social worker.
Ethical dilemmas and deontology.
Theoretical models of social work
The narrative approach in social service: biography and life stories, careers and moral careers, stressful events and coping skills. Resources and social capital. The biogram tool for collecting and studying a life story.
