The course promotes the learning of the social service methodology, the helping process in the various phases and the relational systemic theoretical model.
Some social service tools will be proposed with particular focus on the interview and documentation.
During the course, debate, reflective capacity and a critical attitude will be promoted, according to an anti-oppressive perspective and promoting social justice.

Learning Objectives
The main objectives of the teaching will be the knowledge, understanding and acquisition of:
1) a unitary method of social intervention.
2) multidimensional and complex aspects of the needs and problems according to a systemic-relational perspective.
3) main tools and techniques of social work, with connection to professional practice.
4) critical, reflective, autonomous and mature thinking about identity and professional action, with reference to ethics.
5) greater self-knowledge about the relational and emotional aspects of the helping relationship
6) The main operational definitions of the network, of the relational organizational model and group and team work tools

It is mandatory to have passed the first year examen of Principi e Metodi del Servizio Sociale

Frontal anda face to face lessons in the classroom with the use of slides

Further information
Where possible, it is recommended the physical presence in the classrom.
Will be used some classroom exercises like simulated professional interviews, group work, drafting of documentation, interventions by qualified external personnel and privileged witnesses.
Type of Assessment
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
It will be used the following indicators and parameters:
1) theoretical preparation and mastery of the main topics
2) active participation and interest shown during the lessons
3) Elements of professional maturity and development of complex and critical-reflective thinking
4) Ability to connect, circularly, theory and professional practice
5) References to the foundations, principles and ethics of social work
LEARNING VERIFICATION METHOD
1) Written test on the contents addressed in the lesson which will consist of three questions with a short open answer (one question for each module).
2) Oral exam consisting of a technical conversation with the teacher, starting from a question proposed by him. The oral exam can be taken only those who have passed the written exam.
Course program
MODULE 1: Theoretical foundations of social work: from assessment and evaluation to the help process.
The theoretical assumptions of social work: some key concepts of the profession. Attention will be paid to the acquisition of a unitary method and an intervention model, presenting the systemic relational model applied to social work. The evaluative function of the social worker will be presented in its methodological, relational and reflective aspects. The help process will be introduced in its specific methodological phases.
MODULE 2: The tools for helping process in social work.
The main tools in the work of the social worker will be presented with particular reference to the professional interview, identifying its characteristics, management techniques and related relational aspects. Some types of documentation that are more frequent and relevant in social work practice will be presented.
The final part of the module will focus on social work interventions in the field of the protection and protection of children and youth and will provide some critical reflections for the development of an anti-oppressive social service.
Where possible, simulations and group exercises will be done.
MODULE 3: Network intervention and organization of social services
The first part of the module deals with the study of social networks and their potential as fundamental resources and essential tools for the professional intervention of the social worker. The second part will identify the different areas of intervention in which the tools and procedures of social service analyzed in the first part of the course can be declined in the specific operational dimension.
