The course offers a theoretical and methodological study of the main operational tools of the professional social serviceKNOWLEDGE: Theory and Techniques of Social Service. Approach to intervention models in the social fieldCOMPETENCES: Methodology, techniques and tools for individualized design of social interventions in the various fields of intervention of the social worker. Assessment of social need, network and context, identification of objectives, planning and management of interventions both in social and health care and in social-health care. Monitoring, verification and evaluation.Skills acquired at the end of the course: Reading the need, use of the main evaluation and monitoring tools (interview, home visit, evaluation scales, group work and team). Preparation of the intervention plan and activation of performance, contract, social documentation and verification documentation tools. Relational, listening and observing skills.

Teaching Methods
The course is articulated through frontal lessons, group and individual work written and oral. Some lessons will be held in a seminar with the presence of experienced social workers who have been working in the various social service sectors for years and they will present the techniques and tools of social service in their workplace. Interactive teaching methods such as role play, simulation, video viewing and classroom discussion will also be used.

Type of Assessment
The exam consists is a WRITTEN test (you must sign up for the appeal) and an ORAL test that will only be supported after you have completed the written test (you must sign up for the appeal). Both tests will cover all the topics of the program and lessons.

The professional social service: definition, objectives and functions in the current institutional political system. Social service faced with the complexity and expectations of today's society. Social service as a discipline: method and methodology. The social worker's methodological process and the aid-relation. Presentation of the main theoretical reference models (from problem solving to unitary approach) and new theoretical perspectives: constructive approach and reflective approach. Net-work and community-work. Communication in the professional social service: methodological aspects, theoretical and application orientations of the interview and the home-visiting. Observation, data collection, professional evaluation and professional document in the construction of personalized intervention projects. The group as a tool for intervention in social work. Definition, dynamic, group history in social service. Characteristics of Expert Groups and Working Groups. Designing, conducting, documentation and evaluation of group work. Particular attention will be given to the knowledge of the activities of the social worker in the various areas of intervention: emergency and urgency, minors and families, young people and adolescents, mental health, dependence, disabled, elderly, immigration, juvenile offenders and adults.
