Theoretical and methodological fundamental knowledge on contemporary developmental psychology, with particular reference to processes and mechanisms of pre-natal and infancy development, cognitive, linguistic, emotional and social development across childhood, school-age and adolescence.

Knowledge and understanding.
The course aims to provide a fundamental knowledge on: a) the theoretical and methodological aspects of contemporary research in developmental psychology; b) the processes and mechanisms that regulate psychological development in cognitive, linguistic, emotional and social competence across the life span, with particular reference to risk and protective factors in typical or atypical development.
Applying knowledge and understanding.
The course will provide students the basic, theoretical and methodological, skills necessary to detect the main stages of psychological development over the life span.
Making judgments.
Particular emphasis will be paid to develop a critical attitude, and to teach students how to express their opinions and sustain their point of view in front of the group or of the class.
Communication skills.
The course will provide to the students the knowledge necessary to use a correct and apppropriate vocabulary.
