Learning Objectives
KNOWLEDGE: some fundamental themes of sociological reflection, which can provide an important knowledge base for the entire degree program.
SKILLS: Development of ability to understand the interplay between theoretical reflection and empirical research, in particular through the application of sociological concepts to social phenomena and the development of conceptual and terminological professional tools.

Course program
After some introductory lessons on the main sociological approaches (macro, meso and micro) and the main methodological tools to do empirical research, we will investigate some fundamental themes of sociological reflection: individual and society, interaction and social exchange, gender, immigration, deviance. Each theme will be addressed through the contribution of one or more classic or contemporary authors and through some empirical applications.
